When we first started Austin Archives, we had no idea how to bring our idea to life. I remember us fumbling around on Canva trying to make logos ourselves, and let’s just say we didn’t get too far.
Luckily, we got connected with a graphic designer through a friend. His name is Carson. After an introductory text, we told him about our idea and he seemed interested. After that first exchange, we didn’t do much with the brand and we weren’t talking much more with Carson either. But as soon as we started taking action, the timing worked out perfectly. We heard Carson was coming to town for the weekend, so we grabbed brunch at Counter Café to talk it through in person and after that we knew he was our guy.
Over the next few weeks, we put together mood boards and wrote out what we imagined for our brand. Not long after, Carson sent us the first round of designs. We loved them so much that we basically settled on our logo right away.
The only thing we couldn’t nail down was our monochrome logo (the tiny version of our main logo). After some back and forth, Carson not only perfected the monochrome, he also managed to make us love our main logo even more with a few tweaks to the original design.

Now our logo feels like us, and that’s all thanks to Carson. He has been incredible to work with, and we truly couldn’t have made our idea tangible without him. Carson, you’re the man. Check out more of his work at carsonfidje.com.
We hope you had a good Labor Day, and we’ll check back in soon.
